Here at Weekend:IN we are so excited to share a day of creative business workshops at our: 'How to Build a Brand' event. If you are looking for startup business tips and insider knowledge about building a brand, this is the place for you! With inspiring talks and workshops led by successful creative independent business owners, Weekend:IN's 'How to Build a Brand' will help you push your business in the right direction.
Whether you're a startup business or are thinking of trying out a new commercial venture, the day will suit you. You might run an online business, be looking to turn your blog into a brand, run a physical shop or have a bright idea for a business in the future. It's a day to gain inspiration and knowledge and leave you feeling motivated and confident in your business goals.
We can't wait to bring together four successful local business owners to run an interactive day of talks and workshops to help you with your brand.

Alison, Wonderland Comms - Alison is the founder and managing director of Bristol based communications agency, Wonderland. Wonderland is straight-talking, creative, collaborative and curious. They're ballsy, strategic and proudly unconventional, with a collaborative 80 years of experience.
Helen, The Bakemonger - Helen is an artisan baker inspired by art, design and culture, on a mission for edibles to be accepted as a valid art form. Helen works as a freelance colour and trend forecaster and is a member of the British Textile Colour Group.
Abi, These Four Walls - Abi is a blogger, freelance writer and photographer based in Bristol. She founded her successful interior design and travel blog, These Four Walls, in 2014, and also contributes to a range of independent lifestyle and travel publications. She’s known for her muted, minimalist style, which is reflected across her blog and social media feeds.
Hels, Lionheart Magazine - Hels runs independent lifestyle publication, Lionheart. Lionheart combines style, culture, stories, interviews, travel, photography, craft and illustration in a beautifully created magazine. Lionheart is now on its eighth issue and sold in numerous independent boutiques across the country.
9AM - 9.30AM: Welcome and a light breakfast
9.30AM - 11.30AM: Wonderland Comms - 'Stand out. Stand up. Stand tall. Stand for something, goddammit. - Creating a strong brand that does you proud'
Alison will run a three-part brand positioning workshop that will help you understand/develop 1) your brand identity and tone of voice 2) your brand values (the things that determine – for you and for others – exactly what you stand for) and 3) how you use your values and personality to communicate in an authentic and meaningful way to your customers and communities, each and every day.
11.30AM - 1.30PM: The Bakemonger - 'The importance of trend and colour'
Discussing the importance of colour and trend application for brand differentiation and innovation. A collaborative and creative workshop to formulate trend and colour stories through mood boarding. You will learn to look at design in a different way through the use of future forecasting.
1.30PM - 2.30PM: Lunch by Pinkmans Bakery
2.30PM - 4.15PM: These Four Walls Blog - 'Instagram: how to style your brand and find your audience'
This practical session will arm you with tips and tricks to help you build a brand identity on this increasingly important social media platform. Abi will cover how to craft a distinctive and consistent aesthetic through image styling, editing and filters, as well as how to write profile descriptions and captions which reflect your brand’s tone of voice. You’ll also look at how to find and engage with the right audience, and discuss how Instagram Stories can help you communicate and grow your brand online.
4.15PM - 5.45PM: Lionheart Magazine - 'How to tell your brand story'
Storytelling through words and pictures has always been a key method of communication and connection. As a creator of content, you are in essence a storyteller and in this role you have the potential to bring a host of emotions. You may prompt ideas, discussions, debates, passion, fury, joy – a revolution! Not forgetting followers. So what do you want to talk about and how will you do it? How will you inspire your audience and where will it lead you? This workshop explores content creation, the storytelling itself as well as the who, what, when, why of putting it out there.
